The Power of Print: CURB Students See Their Work Come to Life

Each year, a new group of University of Wisconsin–Madison journalism students take on an ambitious project: creating CURB, a nationally recognized magazine that captures the pulse of life across campus. The publication—produced entirely by students—showcases storytelling, design, and creativity at its finest. But what truly sets CURB apart from other student publications is its tangible form. Thanks to Royle’s ongoing partnership and commitment to print excellence, the students’ work doesn’t just live online—it comes to life on paper.

In a recent note of appreciation, CURB: Currents Editor-in-Chief Gabriella Hartlaub reflected on what this partnership means to the class:

“What I am most excited for with CURB is holding the magazine in my hands—the physical manifestation of all of our hard work, which would not be possible without our partnership with Royle,” she shared. “The ability to hold our work in your hands and share a printed version with friends and family is an amazing experience… one that we, as CURB, are grateful to be able to share with Royle.”

Every fall, the team at Royle partners closely with CURB’s new student staff, helping them navigate the fast-paced world of magazine production. With a fresh class taking the reins each year, flexibility and collaboration are key. Gabriella noted that Royle’s representatives “do it with ease, helping those of us who are inexperienced in printing a full magazine.”

For the students, seeing their work professionally printed is a defining moment—one that validates months of writing, editing, and design. For Royle, it’s a reminder of why print remains such a powerful medium: it connects people to stories in a way that pixels alone cannot.

As CURB: “Currents” hits the press once again, Royle is proud to support the next generation of journalists and storytellers—helping them experience the magic of seeing their ideas in print for the very first time.
